Mamie’s Poppy Plates

Mamie’s Poppy Plates provides a keepsake for parents who are not able to take their babies home from the hospital. They take your baby’s hand and footprints and create a precious reminder of your baby’s existence that you can cherish for a lifetime. As a loss parent, you can receive a donated plate free of charge, and you can even customize it. My favorite color has always been teal, so naturally I chose it to be the color of Rorie’s plate. On their website there are additional options for gifting plates, volunteering to help create plates, and of course, donating to the cause. It’s a wonderful organization to support, and we are thankful to them for their efforts.

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep offers remembrance photography services for parents experiencing the death of a baby. Their professional photographers around the world provide special portrait sessions of parents spending their only moments with their baby. These are moments that can never be recreated, and they provide people with these precious memories free of charge. Another service that they provide which we were able to use is their delicate retouching of photos of parents with their baby. Babies that are stillborn or pass away shortly after birth often have skin tears and discoloring, and while they are still beautiful, the retouching of their pictures can make it easier for families to cherish and share those memories. On their website you will find several other ways they are helping the community, and you can also donate or volunteer your photography services through this caring organization.

Molly Bears

Molly Bears creates a gentle, huggable memory for parents of a baby that was taken too soon. They create a customizable bear that is the same weight as the baby that passed away. Many parents that have experienced loss have a feeling of empty arms. While a bear could never truly replace a baby, it serves as a comforting reminder for a family. Molly Bears are completely customized, and thus there is a wait time to receive one. An order form opens up on the 15th of every month, and they only accept so many orders each month. There is a small fee to be placed on the Waiting List. We love our Rorie Bear, and it has been a sweet keepsake that we have snuggled on the toughest of days. We know that our daughter Tannen and any of our future children will cherish this precious reminder of their sister as well. Molly Bears offers several ways that you can contribute to their cause on their website.

Allison’s Angel Gowns

Allison’s Angel Gowns is one of many organizations that has a program for making Angel Gowns. Angel Gowns are made from repurposed wedding dresses for remembrance photo sessions and the burial of babies that have passed away. They are made for even the tiniest lost lives, and they accommodate for small sizes not available in stores. They provide beautiful, hand crafted gowns free of charge and take away the added stress of grieving parents having to find burial clothing for their baby. We were given an Angel Gown at the hospital in which to bury Rorie, and although we were not able to see her in her gown for our own reasons, we are so grateful that we were given something so special for her to wear. The picture is an example of what they can create. On their website you will find that they welcome volunteers to help sew gowns as well as donations of wedding dresses to make them. What a special and compassionate way to repurpose a wedding dress!

There are many organizations out there that touch the lives of the people we seek to support and provide ways of helping the memory of our babies live on. We have only listed a few that we personally have been touched by, but we would love to hear of any more that you have encountered. Email us at info@theroriemaefoundation.org.
